The opening and closing of a far off door could be heard from the safty of the forest grounds. If one were to look past the wooden fence and beyond the large field, one would see the figure of a mostly white furred feline trotting along the way.
Cocoa's tabby tail twitched back and fourth rhythmicly as she came toward the wooden fence. She wasted no time in leaping up and balancing ontop of the ledge. Her misty green/yellow eyes stared out into the colored forest. The leaf-fall colors showing off their many shades as the leaves fell slowly to the ground. Cocoa had never seen orange leaves before, and was eagerly plotting to go out and catch the whispering leaves that hit the ground like rain. Her gaze didn't faulter as she kept her eyes contently on the environment. She had just woken up from a long dozing on her favorite seat near the window. Her master, the little human female, had just fed her, and she was raring to go out and explore today.
I'm going to catch one of those leaves....and maybe get a mouse or two. The she-cat though, eyes lighting up as she thought of a juicy mouse to eat. Yes she was a house-cat, but she did know how to hunt. She had taught herself last moon, and her paws were itching to go out to hunt again today.
Hopping down easily from the fence, Cocoa's ears prickled as she listened for any signs of other company around. Tail flicking, Cocoa padded causiously onto the leave covered floor of the forest. She took a deep breath of air and scented all sorts of different smells. The leaves, the misty bark of the trees, the tree sap, and the crisp morning air. She loved going out in the morning, and even though the air was colder, it didn't keep her away.
The pretty calico set one paw after the other as she walked with curious eyes deeper into the forest, she was determined to cross the boundry today. She always kept a distance from the forest and her housefolk home, but today was going to be different.
just a couple more steps... She thought, but paused as she heard the snapping of a twig. She stood still as she waited, she wasn't afraid, only curious. She blinked and turned to where she heard the sound. "Hello?" She asked aloud, nose sniffing the air once more, but couldn't pick up the scent of anything else but what she smelled before.
strange...I swear I heard something...or someone... She thought, one paw raising to inspect with her eyes. "Is that you Sam?" She mewed with a suspicious tilt of her head. She knew her friend came out in the mornings like she did, maybe she decided to come this far into the woods as well?
